{in the picture} i am grateful...

Friends, sorry about the late post this month for {In The Picture}. As you may know I was away on vacation in California--then Hurricane Sandy came to visit NYC while I was away and I got stranded in Los Angeles, unable to get home until just a couple days ago. I am happy, and lucky, to report that my home and my family are safe in NYC and my extended family in NJ also made it through the storm unscathed.

In light of this, and the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, I thought our optional theme this month should be "I am Grateful". Try to find a way to work your gratitude into your self-portraits--whether it be a person, a pet, a job, a place, or some small everyday part of your life that you are thankful for.

I took this self-portrait the other day while in Manhattan Beach, California. I was looking out at the calm Pacific Ocean thinking how thankful I was that my family came through the storm OK. So feel free to keep the theme loose this month, and work your gratitude in any way you can.

I'll see you back here at the end of the month for our link up on Friday, 11/30. I am still trying to get around to visit all your links from last month--the extended trip has thrown me off and I am trying to catch up! Also, you probably don't know this but my work is in disaster recovery, so things are heating up around here and work is pretty busy. I'll do my best to keep our project going through the end of the year--my promise to you. I hope you are all safe and sound, and that those of you on the east coast didn't have too much trouble from Sandy.

So glad you and family are safe - this storm has hit us here as we were in NYC just a few months ago and we love your city and the people and deli's and food and art were fantastic!

We hope you all can recover and people who are facing loss can find a safe haven before Christmas - thinking of you all!! Cheers!!

Great to hear all is well considering the powerful Sandy that swept through. I think Gratitude is a perfect theme this month! Wonderful selfie, although I really liked your multiple exposure ones from CA too.

Happy you are safe and sound, but blogging should be last on your list. We are a patient lot and now is the time to be concerned about those affected by Sandy.

I am thankful that you are all safe, U.M... I was kind of worried.
LOVE your piece, too, of course! That pretty much always goes without saying, but still... wow!
