our october linky party is here!

Hi everyone. I am writing and scheduling this post a week early, as I am leaving for a vacation on Sunday and won't be here the day of the linky party. I'm headed out to California for the Shutter Sisters Oasis retreat and then visiting my old college roommate in LA. I haven't been on a vacation in SO long, I am really looking forward to it.

So, our self-portrait (optional) theme this month was "my favorite place". Earlier this month, I briefly told you about one of my favorite places in Fr. Tryon Park near my apartment in NYC. This beautiful, 70-acre park is home to amazing views of the Hudson River and endless nooks and crannies to go for some quiet time. This spot under the arches is one of my favorites, so I went back there for another selfie shoot. I took lots of photos with both my iPhone and my DSLR but I just don't have time to give them a proper edit, so we'll have to do with just this one for now.

I took this photo with my iPhone and edited with VSCO cam--a great app if you haven't tried it--it's simple and straightforward and gives lots of fun color and black & white options for some interesting tones.

Sorry so short today but trying to schedule this post and get back to packing for my trip!

As a reminder...here are our usual linky rules:
  • Please link back to the permalink for your {In The Picture} blog post or flickr image, not just the general url for your blog or flickr stream.
  • Linked entries must be to a blog post or flickr image of your recent self-portraits, not just any old photo. Your photo does not have to relate to the optional monthly theme, but it does need to be a self-portrait. Links will be moderated and removed if they do not comply with this rule, sorry :)
  • Please do link back here to my blog either through a text link, or with my button found below to help encourage others to participate and add to our group.
  • And most importantly, be the encouragement you hope to receive and help build our self-portrait community! Please try to visit a few of the links of your fellow {In The Picture} participants and leave a nice comment--it only takes a few minutes and you may be inspired by what you see :)

OK that's it. The linky will stay open until Thursday, November 1st. If you are new here, you can get caught up on this page. It's not too late to join the project! Good luck!

The 70 acre park must be amazing. Those arches are spectacular. Hope you had a good trip.

I love this magnificent arched gallery, and your bright yellow dress is a lovely contrast with the gray stone. I like the way you processed this. I'm guessing that what looks like flare in the upper right is from that app you mentioned. I'll have to check that out - it looks like fun. Thanks for continuing to host and inspire us with {in the picture}!
