our august self-portrait link is open!

It's time to share your August self-portraits for {In The Picture}! Our optional theme this month was "my life, right now"~ a chance to capture and share a memory from your everyday or a feeling or emotion that described your mood.

I'll be the first to admit, this month started out slow for me. I had plenty of time to shoot but most days the creative spark and the desire to take photos just wasn't there. I did manage get a few shots of me and Willow out on our daily walks.

Shadow dog

And then last week the inspiration finally hit. I heard about a self-portrait project on Instagram that encouraged IGers to take 7 "faceless" selfies and tag them #7faceless. I pushed myself to take them in 7 consecutive days ~ it wasn't easy but I did it! This one below captures the mood I was in on that day (not a great week)...you can see the rest of them in my flickr stream if you're interested. They were all shot and processed with my iPhone (with an occasional edit on my iPad).

Sorrow.

You guys did a great job of capturing the everyday! Just take a look at some of the images from our flickr pool...

My creation

I hope you will take a minute to link up with one of your self-portraits today. If it's been a little slow for you too this month, there's still time to get out there. The linky will stay open until Thursday, 9/6.

As a reminder...here are our usual rules:
  • If you are new here, you can get caught up on this page. It's not too late to join!
  • There will be a link up here on the last Friday of every month, and the linky tool will remain open to your submissions until the following Thursday.
  • Please link back to the permalink for your {In The Picture} blog post or flickr image, not just the general url for your blog or flickr stream.
  • Linked entries must be to a blog post or flickr image of your recent self-portraits, not just any old photo. Your photo does not have to relate to the optional monthly theme, but it does need to be a self-portrait. Links will be moderated and removed if they do not comply with this rule, sorry :)
  • Please do link back here to my blog either through a text link, or with my button found below to help encourage others to participate and add to our group.
  • And most importantly, be the encouragement you hope to receive and help build our self-portrait community! Please try to visit a few of the links of your fellow {In The Picture} participants and leave a nice comment--it only takes a few minutes and you may be inspired by what you see :)
OK, time to get linking. I'll see you back here on Friday, 9/7, for our next theme announcement and in the meantime, keep showing us your stuff in our flickr pool! For those of you with a long holiday weekend, enjoy your Labor Day.

That first image is AHmazing. Glad to see Willow "in the picture" too. I see such growth in your selfies-something I need to push better on myself. Also glad to see someone else fessing to life isn't always happy and perfect. There's definitely some gray days too. Happy weekend Christy, and thanks for hosting this selfie project. I'm sure it takes work-and it's appreciated.

Great images. I love the first one with Willow. In the last shot you have portrayed so well the emotions you were going through at that moment.
Thank you for being hostess to this monthly get-together!

Christy, your self portraits are always inspirational to me. I wish I were brave enough to show the emotion you do, and photographer enough to capture it.

Hi! I don't know if it's possible but the 3rd link (Michelle) is me (hi!) and I've moved blogs so my post is now here: http://now.wherewerewe.org/2012/08/23/august-self-portrait-my-life-right-now/

I'll get a URL redirect up at some point but just wanted to note it. Looking forward to the next prompt!
