mobile me

If you've been here before you know how I love shooting with my beloved iPhone. I am so happy to announce that we are starting a new flickr group over at Mortal Muses called "Mobile Mondays". I hope you will hop on over next time you are on flickr and join our group. Photos can be taken and processed with any mobile device, uploaded on any day of the week, and may be featured on our Mortal Muses blog on...you guessed it...Mobile Mondays!

I took another iPhone self-portrait recently that I am sharing over at 52 Photos Project for the "black & white" theme this week. I found this dress in a vintage shop (although I am not sure I am 100% convinced that it is actually vintage, but I don't care). It doesn't exactly fit me, but I honestly bought it just to be used as a prop in photos--so if done right, you won't really be able to tell that it's too big for me, right? I have to admit I have bought several items of clothing recently with no intention of wearing them in public--only plans to wear them as props/costumes in selfies. That can't be a good sign...

something old

And a couple of additional black & white shots here from my random wanderings beneath the streets of NYC...it's been a while since I've posted any of my subway portraits on the blog...

Love the first shot! Fantastic ~ You were brave taking shots of 'strangers' in NYC ~ thought one was suppose to ask permission or did you know them? Just curious what the 'semi photo rules are' ~ thanks, ^_^

Love your skirt and your subway pictures. I think buying clothes as props just shows how passionate you are about photography, and that's a good thing.

Love this post! I´ve been wanting to take some kind of self portrait soon but have had this darn cold for a while so no energy left for selfies. I hope to get around to it soon though! :-)

Your photos have a urban grittiness that I like very much. The portrait of the child with the peace shirt is wonderful. (as is your dress)

Christy, I love all these photos. I wonder if the subjects of your subway photos knew you were taking their pictures? I smiled at your buying clothes just for selfie props. I haven't done that, but only because I couldn't find what I had in mind!

Beautiful images! Love love love the subway shots. I buy vintage teacups and plates to use as props...might start doing the same with clothes too!

With the amazing work you create dedicated props are absolutely warranted, U.M. AND effective - your first piece is timeless... although I love them all, of course!
