alphabet soup

My hub is away, so I had the apartment to myself this weekend to take some self-portraits. I also got outside to take a few, and had a traumatic moment when a carefully planned shoot went to hell when I got out to my location with all my props and gear and realized I forgot to bring the little thing-a-ma-jig that screws on to the bottom of the camera to attach it to the tripod. What a bummer. I made do by propping the camera up here and there but it was not the same! I managed to get this shot for the "umbrella" theme at Me Again Monday on flickr...

“and when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. without the rain, there would be no rainbow.”  ~g.k. chesterton

And speaking of words that begin with "U", our word at Me & You 52 this week is "up". Join us over at our blog or in our flickr group. Here is my take...

And for more alphabet fun, we are up to "G" over at Film26. I've missed a few letters and need to catch up soon, but for this week, "G" is for "grip". I am happy with this shot below....it is a rare successful outcome with my Polaroid camera and Impossible film...

hold on

Here is the iPhone version from the same shoot...

Yes, I am self-portrait crazy this year. I don't know what has gotten into me, but I have all these ideas spinning around in my head and they want to come out! If you want to join me on this journey, I have started a self-portrait community called {In The Picture}--the details are on this page if you want to check it out.

Have a great week everyone!

I'm in love with that umbrella shot - who needs a working tripod?

Oh no! I feel your pain, U.M... finding that mounting piece thing missing is always a HUGE 'BUT WHY?!' moment! I've found myself using a wallet, sticks, stones, whatever I could find to prop a camera up, too! Not quite as big a bummer as a dead battery, but a REAL pain, nonetheless! Great result though, for the improvisation! All wonderful shots... as always!

Ever since Bella's self-portrait prompt last week, I've been feeling the urge to photograph myself more. I can't quite put my finger on why, but somehow it seems connected to the self care stuff I'm working on, or something. Anyway, I just want you to know how inspiring I find your self-portraits. Thank you so much for sharing them.
