nyc flickr meetup!

You may recall that I went to a meetup of some blog and flickr friends back in October. Lucky for me, they all came to NYC so we met at Grand Central and made the best of a rainy day. It was like having 15 new friends all at once--a little daunting, but all in all amazing when you think about how we "meet" each other online these days.

We've all stayed in touch and decided to meet again in February. Well, flickr found out about it this time and began publicizing the meetup and the next thing you know there were over a hundred people signed up to attend. Only about 7 of us from our original meetup were able to go this time, so we kind of stuck together in a mini-group among all the other people. It was a little overwhelming to have all those people there--check out this shot taken by my friend Holly and you'll see what I mean. (I'll wait for you here).

Don't get me wrong, it was fun, and the fickr folks brought along some flickr beach balls (seen in my photo above), some flickr buttons and some other goodies. The group walked along the High Line -- a park built up on an old railroad track running along the west side of Manhattan from about 30th Street to Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District. I highly recommend this spot if you're in the city for a visit.

We sauntered down the High Line for a couple of hours and then found our way to a beer garden at the end of the walk---not a bad day! I honestly have never seen so much camera gear in one place :)

Have a happy week everyone. Linking up at The Creative Exchange today.

Turns out I sat next to you while they made the big group photo Saturday and I didn't even know at the time! (and I am in the middle of your photo on top of this page, playing with my iphone).
I recognized you later, but I didn't get the chance to say hi anymore. It was nice to "meet" you in real life, love your photos and someday I am gonna make me some selfies :-)
Best, Nellies

Christy, have you ever thought of writing a book on iPhoneography? Or perhaps you already have, in case I'd like to know where I could get a copy. Your photos are stunning and I'd love to know how you do it.

Wow Christy, this does look like a fun and a bit crazy time! How wonderful to be among all those like-minded folks, clicking away. Great city views captured, too! Perfect for B&W renditions.
Hope your week is happy!

DUMB question time.
Would you happen to know if it's possible to get a hold of an old iPhone w/o phone service and mess around with the camera / instagram / hipstamatic / etc. only? Your work is just too inspiring... seriously. Ridiculous.

Wow, such a lot of people ... I don't do well in big crowds, so it's always nice to hang with some familiar faces in a smaller group. It sounds like a fun meet-up though. :)

I'm glad you were there despite being overwhelmed. I had a good time, but I am looking forward to a less overwhelming meetup with some of the original crew.
