{in the picture} pieces of you!

I am so excited for our first {In The Picture} linky party today! I want to thank all of you for your incredible participation in this project so far. I know many of you were hesitant to pursue self-portraiture--but from what I can see, you are surprising yourself with your results (and how much you actually are enjoying it so far :)

I've been hard at work challenging myself too. One of my goals this year was to try a levitation selfie and here is my first attempt, shot and processed with my iPhone a couple weeks ago!

let me in!

Our flickr group has been thriving, and I truly hope we will get equal participation here on the blog today. I love stopping by the group each day to see all your creativity, beauty and strength. Our theme this month was "pieces of me", and though it was hard to select just a few images to share, these are some of my favorite pieces of you....

{In The Picture} January

Thanks to all of you for sharing your amazing work so far!!! OK, so let's get this party started...here are our linky rules:
  • If you are new here, you can get caught up on this page. It's not too late to join!
  • There will be a link up here on the last Friday of every month this year, and the linky tool will remain open to your submissions until the following Thursday.
  • Please link back to the permalink for your {In The Picture} blog post or flickr image, not just the general url for your blog or flickr stream.
  • Linked entries must be to a blog post or flickr image of your recent self-portraits, not just any old photo. Your photo does not have to relate to the optional monthly theme, but it does need to be a self-portrait. Links will be moderated and removed if they do not comply with this rule, sorry :)
  • Please do link back here to my blog either through a text link, or with my button found below to help encourage others to participate and grow our community.
  • And most importantly, be the encouragement you hope to receive and help build our self-portrait community! Please try to visit a few of the links of your fellow {In The Picture} participants and leave a nice comment--it only takes a few minutes and you may be inspired by what you see.

Well, that's it...now get linking everyone! I'll see you back here on Friday, 2/3, for our February theme announcement, and in the meantime, keep showing us your stuff in the flickr pool.

A "levitation" photo is on my list so I might be emailing you because I lay awake thinking about it sometimes. :) It boggles my mind a bit. :) Happy Friday, Love! Christy...I'm looking forward to linking soon, but wanted to say that yes-I am enjoying this very much. It's like an excuse to feed one's own ego.
You're going to have to spill some tips on how to do a levitation shot. Geez, that's awesome.
Wanted to say I really appreciate your visits from the flickr linky. I think when one hosts or starts a project and others tag along, it feels good to have that hostess stop by from time to time and cheerlead. It gives value to what one is trying to accomplish.
Have a great weekend-and wishing much success to the blog linky today.

gina--I had trouble following your link when i tried it this morning :( i haven't heard anyone else having problems today, but it certainly could be a blogger issue. good luck figuring it out! the linky here will be open until thursday if you want to come back and try again at some point.

Beautiful shot! I'm excited to begin participating. I'm a little nervous because I don't care to have pictures of myself taken...never mind by myself! And everyone has such beautiful photographs. But I'm just jumping in and hoping to grow over the next year! Thank you for sharing this project for us all to join in!

I found your blog by accident. Since I am doing a 365 self portrait project, your "in the picture" caught my attention. After I made my link I began visiting the other postings. I guess the biggest surprise I got was that I am in minority. I appears that I am the only male that made a link. What gives? Have I stumbled into something where I should not be?

urban muser said...

hi andy. you are definitely welcome here if you'd like to continue on with us. i do find that many self-portrait projects attract more women than men, i don't know why that is. i know there are a couple other men out there who have joined this, but they didn't link up this time. maybe they are being shy :)

Love your photo!
It was fun to roam through these very creative posts. Maybe one month I will be brave, and like you said...give myself a push.
Have a great week ahead. :)
