are you scared of self-portraits? i was too.

Happy Friday everyone! I am blogging over at Mortal Muses today and I hope you'll come by and say hello. Every 4 weeks one of the Muses writes what we call a "Muse University" post. I've only done one of these before during my time as a muse, and to be honest, it makes me nervous. I mean, I'm no photography expert and when I sit down to write these things I wonder what knowledge can I possibly impart that everyone doesn't already know? I tell you, it's intimidating.

I reflected on my recent obsession with self-portraits. First, you should understand--if anyone I know tries to take my picture I run screaming out of the room. It's not pretty. But lately, I've been turning the camera on myself and it somehow feels....right.

So I started thinking about why that is. Why have I decided not only to take photographs of myself, but to show my face in the blogosphere--something I didn't do for the first year of this blog. I came up with a list of "tips" that have helped me ease myself around to the other side of the lens, and I decided to share them with you all today.

Mind you, it's not rocket science, and like I said, I am NO expert, but these are the little things that seem to have helped me overcome my fear of selfies. If you are interested in reading about it, click here to get to the post at Mortal Muses. There is a great collection of self-portraits over there from some talented ladies who are members of the Muse flickr pool, so go check it out!

Linking up today with Photo Art Friday and 52 Photos Project.

Loved the post...you may even have talked me into trying one or two again:) The problem with selfies in my case is that I think and feel like I still look 40 until I see the photo and there is a 60 year old looking at me:)

I like these two!

I love that you turn the camera on yourself.
For me it has much to do with selfcare and feeling beautiful.

I also prefer to be behind the camera rather than in front of the lens. I enjoyed this post.
