Today I'll share with you a few shots from yesterday for the project I am participating in (and the reason I committed to posting every day)--Week In the Life. First, I cuddled with Willow in the early morning sun for an arm's length selfie...
I went grocery shopping (blah!)...
I waited on the hot subway platform for my train to work...
My train arrived, not a moment too soon...
I emerged from the underground, a few blocks from work...
I went to work but didn't take any pictures there! (maybe today) Fast forward several hours later--I waited for the train to take me home...
I was jealous of the woman eating ice cream on the train...
I left some of my "Smile At A Stranger" notes on the B train! For more about that project, click here.
You may have noticed that I take a lot of pictures on the NYC subway. My current client is located in Brooklyn and my commute takes about an hour so I pass the time taking pictures on my way to and from work. Many of you emailed me and asked in the comments yesterday about how I take my subway and street photos of strangers. Some quick answers--no, I do not ask permission, it's all about capturing people in a moment for me. How do I do it? Well, I'll write a longer post about that sometime soon, but my two biggest tips are confidence and practice!
I am linking up today at InstaFriday over at Life Rearranged (thanks to modchik for turning me on to this). It's a weekly link for mobile photography which is perfect for me as all these photos were taken with my iPhone. Yay! Right up my alley. Have a fantastic weekend everyone.

Love your iphone captures. Found you via Instafriday linky.
Have a great weekend ahead!
i've never visited NYC but it is on my life list. your week in the life captures are making that "want" a "need" to visit. TFS
Cool photos! My commute to work is nothing as fascinating as yours! :)

Love these photos - yours all have a neat "look" to them that makes your blog unique. This is my first time visiting (from Life Rearranged).
Really like these captured moments in your day. I'm assuming Instagram? Jealous since I have a droid and no instagram. Bah humbug!
Excellent pics -- love the insight into your day --
I LOVE the photo of you and your furbaby, Willow. It is sooo sweet. You are a brave woman to take photos of strangers. I'm always afraid they're going to punch me in the face, but I guess that's what the practice is for. Have a great weekend!!
Those are fun shots!!! I love your pics!
I'm not doing Week in the Life this year so I like "eavesdropping" on yours. I am starting Project Life on Sunday so that should be fun!
Just found your blog from InstaFriday. Great pics, I look forward to your post on capturing street photos.
I'm so envious of your courage - to take photos of complete strangers is so amazing to me!
Love the shot of the Brooklyn Bridge. Have a great weekend!!
I love how you capture life - so journalistic. I'm pretty jealous of that woman with the ice cream too.
love all this series of photos. nice to share your day with you. I would snuggle with that dog, too...
Great photos. I love the woman eating ice cream.
Yup. Jealous of the girl with the cone. Give Willow head noogies from me.
PS.. got my first postcard today - not from you
yum, ice cream on a cone...lucky girl & photos are amazing. love the b&w & pics of random strangers.
Ohhhh I am in LOVE with everything this day - your Brooklyn Bride shot is FABBBBBOULOUS!! and the smile project and your dog and the subway. I'm coming to visit. I really need to see NYC through your eyes. xoxo - Happy InstaFriday!
This is a fun post and reflects the busyness of the city. These past hot couple of weeks I don't envy you being a NYC girl....I'm sure that ice cream was a welcome treat for that stranger.
I love the shot of the Brooklyn Bridge-a unique perspective.
