OK, I know you are sick of seeing pictures of Willow, but I have good news. Last night, she stood up on her own for the first time in a week. And today, she got up and walked across the foyer to greet me when I came home from work (my husband stayed home with her today--I really needed a break, for my own sanity!). No, really, she got up and walked, no, trotted over to me. Unassisted. Tail wagging. I am out of my mind with happiness. I didn't think this was ever going to happen again.
She still needs support when going out of the apartment for any real walking...I don't want to risk it and have her fall and break a bone or anything. And I know this may not be permanent, but I have to take one day at a time and today was a good day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A little back story---yesterday we spent several hours in the park across the street from where we live. A woman came up and asked me about Willow, what was wrong with her, etc. She sat down and chatted with us for almost an hour. Now, you don't know me, but let me tell you that having an extended conversation with a stranger in the park is not my usual style. I am a nice person (really) but that is just not my thing. However for some reason, it was comforting talking to her. It turns out she is a very spiritual person and she kept saying how she loved animals and felt connected with Willow and was going to pray for her. Again, not my personal style, but I certainly respect it, and will take what I can get.
Well, it was not an hour after she left us in the park that Willow had her first breakthrough and stood up. I mean going from not being able to walk, to standing up on her own out of nowhere. I am not sure I believe in angels, but that woman.....I'm just saying. Thank you park lady, thank you :)
I promise tomorrow morning I am going to come around and start commenting again. Thank you all for your support! You are so amazing.

It's always great to be in the right place at the right time. I'm glad to hear Willow is slowly but surely getting better.
So glad to hear she's doing so well and I can't imagine getting sick of pictures of her. She is a very sweet-looking puppy.
What a great story! Willow is so sweet, I'm definitely not sick of seeing pictures of her. Glad to hear she's feeling better. :)

such great news, love that story too.
Great story Christy - sometimes the right people (strangers or not) come along exactly when you need it. Glad to hear that Willow is on the improve
Don't worry and enjoy with willow lady!
I am so happy for you, your husband, and Willow, that is fantastic news :-)
I also think your story about the park woman is really lovely too. None of us know what angels look like, if they exist, and if they do how they walk among us, that is what faith is. I like to think that when we need that help most of all (like it's a Wonderful Life), that is when we see them :-) Maybe she was looking to get her wings :-)
There are unexpected gifts in every situation. So glad things are looking up for Willow and for you. Take care.
She's a beautiful dog! Glad things are better. I've been behind on commenting too. It happens! Take care!
So glad to hear your puppy's on the mend! What a great day!
YAY! That's so awesome. I'm so glad that Willow is perking up further. And great story about the lady in the park. :)
Even though I'm not really a religious person, I can't doubt there are strange unexplained occurences. Maybe it was coincidence, maybe not. Either way, I'm glad you had an uplifting talk with her, and that it gave you and Willow both some motivation! I'm glad she is getting back to her normal self.
Yeah for Willow and magical park ladies! Hey, I believe in magic, fortune, faith, and all goodness :)
Yeay! So good to hear :)
This is fantastic news!!
I am so glad she is improving!
Just looking at that face makes me smile:) I am not surprised that she made a connection with someone:)
We take it where we can get it. :)
Glad you are all doing well.
awe :( just catching up on everything that is going on with willow :( I am happy to hear that yesterday was a good one, hope the continue to be that way!
That story gave me chills. I'm not normally a believer in such things either, but once in awhile I have to stop and wonder.
So glad to hear she's doing so well!
I could never get tired of seeing that sweet face, are you kidding?!
She looks a lot more alert in these photos, getting back to feeling like herself I hope. It is kinda nice to open up to a welcoming stranger every now and then...sometimes it can feel just right. Sounds like Willow enjoyed your chat too ;) Glad to hear she is starting to have more strength! YAAAY!!
Just found your blog and LOVE that she's walking again! Beautiful story about the Lady in the park! Sending prayer for her continued healing!!
