Winter's Texture

With so much snow and ice outside there isn't much color, and I am getting tired of taking pictures of snow.  Sure, it's pretty, but after a while it just gets old (and dirty)!

I took a walk last week and captured these little bits of winter foliage peeking through the ice and snow.  As expected, the SOOC photos are kind of dull, but I was planning to try my hand at textures for the first time and I thought these pictures would be a good starting point.

I still have a lot to learn about textures (and how to use the Photoshop Elements 9 that I just got for Christmas) but I think I am off to a decent start.  I was inspired to finally try this because our theme at Mortal Muses this week is applied textures.  The two photos above are my second and third attempts.  To see my first one head over to Mortal Muses and check out my post there. Have a great day!

I love the foliage against the snow. It has been a long time since I lived in New York so when Austin got snow it was a big deal. I do,however, remember what it was like to be VERY tired of the snow.

Happy Sunday!

They're both really pretty, but I'm really in love with the almost plant fossil like texture on the second one.

And congrats on getting Elements for Christmas! That rocks. :)
