The Fighting Irish

I am feeling a little more back to myself today, so here's the Notre Dame update.  First, a little background on how this trip came about...

My friend works in advertising and she always gets these amazing perks from clients, networks, etc. She's very good to me...she has taken me to the Bahamas on a cruise, countless tennis matches and baseball games, the Tony Awards, and oh yeah, to Sydney, Australia for the 2000 Summer Olympics (really!).  She works hard at her job and gets invited to lots of places and I sometimes end up as her very happy "plus one."

As a result of being on this client-sponsored trip to Notre Dame, we got to see and do some pretty cool things.  The night before the game we had backstage access to the pep rally, went on a tour of the players' locker room and then we went down onto the field through the famous stairway, past the "Play Like A Champion" sign and out the tunnel...

Then we had dinner in the stadium, high up above the field over the press box.  The view was great.

The next morning (after I peeled myself out of bed) we went to a huge tailgate and then got passes to go down onto the field to watch the team warm-ups, the pre-game activities and then the team running out onto the field.  It was so crowded, here is my attempt at a photo---you can barely see the gold helmets running by...

Then it was up to our seats, or shall I say, narrow, old, uncomfortable, splinter-ridden benches (almost the entire stadium is filled with them!)

The student sections were mad with green t-shirts and lots of school spirit.  I don't know if you can see it here, but when the team scores a touchdown they lift people up into a push-up position and push them up and down (over and over).  There were hundreds of people doing this move.  It was fun to watch.

Notre Dame won the game 23-17 and a good time was had by all!

Go Irish!

So lucky to get the perks without the work! Very jealous and I don't even really appreciate American football.
