That all changed for me when I moved to Washington Heights in northern Manhattan a couple of years ago. My neighborhood is filled with trees and parks, my co-op apartment has beautifully landscaped grounds, and I have a view across the Hudson River of the incredible autumn colors of the Palisades in New Jersey. This is not the best picture, but you get the idea...
Thanks to a creative prompt at Slice of Life Tuesday I found myself looking down more than usual earlier this week. Here is what I saw just outside my apartment yesterday. It's a sight I would never have seen in my old neighborhood in the East Village.
And speaking of "Slice of Life", Darrah Parker, the founder of Slice of Life has announced a new photography project that sounds really interesting. I think registration opens soon---click on the button below for details.

Gorgeous photos! I love the perspective of the second one!
Love that shot of the leaves on the ground!
As much as I love and miss California, one of the coolest things about living in the midwest is seeing the vibrancy in the changing seasons!
beautiful photos!
I also love that last shot - love the depth of field.
What a pretty view you have. I really need to do a leaves on the ground shot, I love yours. Perfect DoF for that.

Great sidewalk shot.
I love these shots. I was reading about the slice of life course on the mortal muses this morning, have you done one of her courses? would you recommend it?
:)
I realized that the fall foliage would be something I'll miss when I move out of the Bronx. We have so many trees here.
Love the second shot. It's really gorgeous.
