Colors In The Sky

It is a beautiful day here in New York City.  The sky it bright blue, the temperature is warm but pleasant and there is a lovely breeze in the air.  I took a walk around my neighborhood this morning and, of course, dragged my camera along.

I've wanted to photograph this building for a while.  There are actually three of these high-rise residential apartment buildings in Washington Heights--they have crazy bright and colorful balconies that always catch my eye when I walk by.

I decided to check out a new farmer's market in the neighborhood too.  You know summer is coming to a close around here when there are fewer peaches and plums and an abundance of apples!

{I think this will be today's selection for my365}

On my way back home I took a bunch of photos of some classic NYC fire escapes.  I've been doing that a lot lately.  I especially liked this one because it is all rusty and worn.

{Fire escapes brought to you as part of The Sunday Creative at Life Set To Words.  This week's theme is "timeworn".}

{Also, go check out Tuesdays Around The World for glimpses of far off and nearby places around the globe.}

I like your apple photos. Are they in season in NY? I grew up in IL where we would visit the apple orchard every October. My mom would make apple butter, jelly, and sauce!

Thanks for you sweet note on my blog!

I love these photos! I grew up in Chicago before moving to rural Wisconsin. I still miss the city...maybe just not at rush hour. :-)

I just love that first fire escape picture! I wish I would have had that beautiful image when I was talking about symbolic fire doors a few days ago on my blog.

I always wonder how well the coloured balconies etc will age on huge high-rise apartments. There's a few around here which are starting to look very old and not necessarily in a good way. Your photo makes it still look a little fresh.
