The Sunday Creative: Orient

I found this week's Sunday Creative prompt to be quite challenging.  The word is orient, and I chose to focus on this definition...{verb} to make familiar with or adjusted to facts, principles, or a situation.

I love to cook and collect cookbooks. However, I find that I like to read the cookbooks, look at the beautiful photographs and search them for new ideas, but rarely do I actually choose a recipe and follow all the steps to make something.  Rather, I use cookbooks to inspire me and orient me towards a particular ingredient, cooking method, technique or cuisine.

So I decided to photograph some of the cookbooks that I use to orient myself in the kitchen.  And, as I am still orienting myself to my way too many iPhone photography apps, I took several (OK more than just several) different shots using different apps and processing.

{iPhone, Lo-Mob, AE TTV Saturated Virage}

{iPhone, Pudding Camera, Fantasy, Vintage Blue}

{iPhone, Lo-Mob, Photocard Two}

{iPhone, Hipstamatic, John S, Ina's 1969}

{iPhone, Plastic Bullet}

I think I have a favorite.  Do you?

I really like the first.

Our cookbook collections overlap in some fun places, too!

The first is my favorite :)
I love cookbooks... I don't have many (with the wonderful resources online I can't justify... but give me time ;))

Our cookbook collections look fairly similar in some places. It's amazing how they can just collect.

That is funny. And here all I could think of was the orient as in asian. :)

The Silver Spoon is one of my favourite cook books. I'm so jealous of your iPhone and all the cool photo apps - love them all!

I love the pudding one....with the soft edges. I didn't know that the iphone could do all that. I may not need a DSLR afterall...just a new cell.
I'm happy to see that you're also doing the 365. Look forward to comparing notes and sharing encouragement along the way.

Lo-MOb wins my heart in this bunch. Just sort of fits the mood to me I guess. Thanks again for turning me on to all these "new toys"

Wow, the iphone can really do some cool things! I like the first one a lot, but I think the Hipstamatic is my favorite.
