Shadow Shot Sunday - Flashback to California

My neighbors are planning a trip to California and asked us for a hotel recommendation in Big Sur (we were there a few years ago and had mentioned we liked the place where we stayed).  While I was looking back through my things I saw these photos and decided to post a few of them on my blog today because it is a reminder to me of what an amazing trip we had and how absolutely beautiful it is there!

We stayed at the Lucia Lodge.  It has 4 tiny cottages literally on the edge of a cliff looking down at the sea.  I think we stayed in the second one from the right.

We had quite a bit of fog on the days when we were there, but when it cleared, the view out of  our cottage looked like this...

And of course, when the sun was out, I took lots of pictures of shadows.  There was a lone picnic table on the property and we'd go out there in the afternoons and have wine and cheese and take in the gorgeous views.  I hope to get back there someday.  It is simply stunning.

This post just warms my heart. I'm a native Californian (I moved out three years ago) and got married overlooking the Pacific in Monterey. I think the summer is the time that I miss CA the most (you'd think it would be winter!) so seeing these pics are like seeing a little piece of home.

My heart just skipped a beat. I love California. And those shots up there? That's why. Gorgeous.

That place on top of the hill reminds me of what I imagine Mount Zion would be...Gods mountain, raw and beautiful. The photo of the ocean and waves is calming with an almost salty smell. Love the photos with the shadows. Wonderful imagination. Well done!!!

Your photos made me want to escape. I would love to retreat to place that is calm. Maybe I'll show this post to my husband and he will take the family on a little vacation.

It does look like a stunning location. An oh-so-romantic! I like early morning fog because it's generally an indication that the day is going to be clear and sunny :)

I've never been to California. Your photos really whet the appetite. The sea beckons.

You have a beautiful blog. It's now a fav.

Great pictures. Almost makes me want to go to Cali but I want to visit NYC more. I think it's because of the arts, which I love.

Found you through Fresh Cut Fabrics blogfrog.
