I've always been one to take a lot of pictures--whether on vacation somewhere or just walking around the city. You never know when you are going to come across something interesting, weird, amazing or downright beautiful. Lately, this creative impulse has been even sharper, thanks to my participation in the Creativity Boot Camp.
My participation in the CBC has pushed me to observe even more about my daily surroundings than I usually do. This is certainly in part because now I have a particular "word" in my mind and I am constantly looking around waiting for inspiration to hit me (everyday on the CBC website we are given a word to serve as our creative insight). One of our assignments last week was "ornament" and I decided to take pictures of gargoyles and stone carvings on apartment buildings around Manhattan. Ever since that day, I still find myself looking UP at buildings more than usual and the other day I noticed these huge guys on a building on 181st Street. It's just four blocks from where I live and I've never noticed them before.
Thanks to Maegan, and everyone participating in the Creativity Boot Camp, for forcing this fast-paced gal to stop and smell the roses, or in my case, stop and look up at the beauty that surrounds me in this concrete city.
