Creativity Boot Camp: Weekend Update

I am posting both of my weekend assignments for CBC today. I had a really good time taking these pictures.

Fly: It was my father's 70th birthday and we had a little soirĂ©e for him at his house.  There is a small lake on the property and we always go fishing there with my nephew when we visit.  I couldn't help but think about flying as I watched him cast his pole over and over into the peaceful lake.

Ornament:  When I read the definition of this word provided on the CBC blog {something that lends grace or beauty} I immediately thought about gargoyles on buildings. I'm not sure why it conjured up this image, but it did.  So, out I went in search of some good old fashioned architecture. You know, those lovely buildings that have artistic, ornamental carvings in the stone above the doors and windows and peeking out off the corners of the edifice. I don't think any of these are true water-spouting gargoyles, but they were just what I was looking for. With a little help from Google, I found these buildings on West 84th and 85th Streets on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

I played around in Picasa and Big Huge Labs to make these collages from some of my favorite shots.

Nice shots - gargoyles are definitely ornamental!

Very cool, I really like the fishing picture. I haven't forgotten and the "beautiful blog" ...I'm working on it, thank you...

I love the gargoyles. Love spotting them in NYC too. Always makes me happy.

Have you seen the elephant gargoyles on sixth ave in the "hotel" district? There was an article in the NYT not too long ago about them.

I love the collages! The gargoyles are beautiful on their own but together they're really powerful. Nicely done.
