Creativity Boot Camp: Week In Review

When I first heard the concept of the Creativity Boot Camp I knew I loved it, but I wasn't sure if I would have the time to do all of the assignments.  I also knew that I didn't want to post about it in my blog every day.  So, in exercising my own creativity, I decided to adapt the CBC to suit my own needs--I am using photography as my medium and I will only post the photos once a week.  So, without any further delay, here are the first six assignments...

Ivory:  In a recent post I shared a secret...I have a cat! (not exactly by choice)  I received a few surprised reader comments because it is obvious if you have ever read my blog before that I love dogs, I have a dog named Willow, and I am obsessed with her. Anyway, the cat does have a few positive qualities, one of them being her beautiful white belly and paws.  She's not ready for me to show her face here on the blog, and for now we'll just keep referring to her as "the cat", but I took a closeup paw/belly photo (it wasn't easy):

Picnic:  Or as I call it---"Stash Picnic".  I used a bunch of yarn from my stash to substitute for actual food and drink.  Then I played around with some soft focus effects and got this:

Multi-layered:  I absolutely love hydrangeas.  This bush is out in front of my apartment building.

Heavy metal:  I live close to the George Washington Bridge and I love taking photographs of it! I know it's kind of literal but it was the first thing that popped in my head when I read the assignment.

Grow:  The view out of our window is one of my favorite things about our apartment. It's kind of a rare treat when you live in Manhattan, and we even get a partial river view and a sunset during certain months of the year.  The photo on the left was taken in mid-April when the trees were just starting to get their leaves back.  The photo on the right was taken yesterday.  Same tree, same view, but now the leaves have GROWN.

Fluid:  Willow is not very graceful, and is always bumping into things, but she definitely looks fluid here:

I love the picnic also! As a fellow yarn lover I thought it was a very creative take on the word.

Well done for the week. I like the second picnic photo, love the DoF, and how creative to use your yarn. An that bridge photo on the right? L.O.V.E. it! Very cool perspective and composition. Great week!

Great 'week in photos' for this challenge. I too like to photograph bridges and your take on your dog being fluid in that shot is fabulous.

The last pic of your pup in "liquid" motion is very cool. I know how they just never hold still long enough to snap a photo...

Love your picnic! :) I wanted to do Creativity Boot Camp but didn't get in on it on time and now am too lazy. ;)

Looking forward to seeing your other pics!

Ah, the little red lighthouse! When my SIL was at NY Presby, we'd stare out her window at it for hours. Finally my husband and daughter took a break from the hospital sitting and walked up to it. They loved it.

We got the children's book out of the library on it also. Very fun stuff.

Love your photos!

Good idea posting all at once! I'm struggling to keep up, but loving it the whole time. I think I love your fluid picture the best, just because it totally captures the personality of pets - always jumping, happy to see us!

I love those white paws!

WOW! I absolutely adore your stash picnic. I wish I'd thought of it myself. And those shots of the GWB are way cool. I especially love the top one, the way it diminishes to a point. I'll keep the multiple posting in mind myself, for those days that just whiz by too quickly.

I love all your photos, specially the hydrangeas-beautiful! we used to have a bush, but my husband pulled it out to build a porch, I was just remarking to him that I'd like to replace it, your post urges me on to do it. My dog is not very graceful, either..you would think they would be...
