First of all, we had amazing seats that my friend got from a client at work. I love her perks, she always hooks me up. Teixeira hit a grand slam homer in the 3rd inning for the only runs of the game. I would have liked a little more action on the field, but hey, a win is a win. Here is Teix crossing home plate with Jeter congratulating him.
It was super hot and humid out and we were are literally sweating through our clothes, especially my Hub (sorry babe, but you were pretty sweaty). There was a much-welcomed (at least by us) rain delay in the 8th inning. While most people headed inside to take cover. We relished in the rain...it felt great!
The grounds crew worked hard to keep the field in tip top shape. Here they are dragging the infield at the end of the 6th inning. They do a little jig to the Village People's "Y.M.C.A." while they drag the field. They've been doing this for almost 15 years. Every game. I think it's kind of silly and funny, especially on a hot day after several beers. Some people really hate it though. Oh well.
Then they were put to the test when the rains came. Got that tarp out and covered the field in only a few minutes.
And then, about 15 minutes later, they're out there again taking the tarp off so we can get down to baseball business again!
The game started up again and was over pretty fast. During the last out of the 9th inning this fan in front of me pulled out her knitting. I was so excited. I snapped this shot, then the game was over, so I didn't really get to talk to her.
A great day!
