Vintage Monday

I've been working on a photograph project over the last 6 months or so...collecting old pictures of my family and the Hub's family.  You know, those really good, old black & white or sepia pictures from the late 1800s and early 1900s.  I just love them, and all the history that comes with them.  And the clothes...the clothes!  The details on some of the dresses are amazing, and there is a sweater on my Hub's grandmother that I want to knit!  Here are a few of the photos before I had them framed.

During the process of pestering my relatives to dig around for these pictures, I made sure to write down the names, places and dates when there was someone in the family who could give me those details.  I'm going to write the information on the back of each picture to preserve it for the future.  A month or so ago I got all the photographs framed and we FINALLY hung them on the wall in the foyer today.  Hooray!

(forgive the awful picture but I am too tired to retake it!)

Also on the "I love old things" front... I often pick up old necklaces and beads at antique shops, flea markets and estate sales.  Sometimes they are in good condition and can be worn as is, but other times I need to make some repairs or restring them entirely.  Here are two of my favorite new finds.  I just finished restringing the green and blue one...

How about you...did you finish a longstanding project over the long weekend?

That's awesome that you have those old pictures to look at! I don't really have many of those at all. It think the oldest ones are from around the 1930's. Still neat to see them, though! I love your wall. :)
