Knitting and Vindaloo, Perfect Together

I got through stage 4 of the BSJ today, thanks to some tips from the Ravelry BSJ Group and BSJ Wiki, and also the YouTube video I posted yesterday.  The video helped me to visualize where to pick up the 10 stitches on each side of the "center 90".

Then tonight, I had a hankering for Indian food.  We don't love the Indian restaurant in our neighborhood...which is sad really, because we live in NYC and should be able to get good local Indian food.  But alas, we can't.  We made a new recipe, Chickpea Vindaloo with Basmati Rice.  Here's the chickpea dish simmering on the stove top:

And then plated with the rice:

The Hub eats meat so he made a spicy lamb dish as well:

I have to start taking better food pictures.  I am usually so hungry that I just snap them off with my iPhone, but they'd look more yum if I start to use my regular camera.

The food was the most successful in-home Indian food we have made.  I will post the recipe for the chickpeas later in the week.

you should have good Indian food living in NYC, otherwise it ruins my theory that the reason I don't have it is because I live in rural Maine. Yours looks good though, makes me hungry.

Looks great! I have a hard time waiting long enough to get out my "real" camera, too, but you're right. It's worth it! ;)
